Weve
fully entered the Aquarian Age where everything old is new again.
Essential oils are no exception. Essential
oils have been around for at least 6,000 years! They are Antiseptic
Anti-Viral Anti-fungal
Our
ancestors used their instinctual sense of smell to guide them
in choosing foods and herbs.
Essential
oils are well documented back to 3500 BC. Weve all heard
the Biblical story of the Three Wisemen bringing Gold, Frankincense
and Myrrh to the Christ child. Not frivolous gifts for the child
only! The Myhrr and Frankincense were most probably intended
for the Virgin Mary. Frankincense helps one to persevere in
difficult circumstances (its also good for hemaroids.)
Myrrh is used to treat wounds and was carried by soldiers into
battle!
More
recent history includes the works of Culpepper (a herbalist)
who used essential oils of peppermint and rosemary in his practice.
Gatefosse,
a French chemist, coined the word "aromatherapy" in
1937. He is regarded as the father of modern aromatherapy.
The
best known story about essential oils and their properties is
the incident when Gatefosse severely burned his hand while working
in his lab. He plunged his hand into the nearest vat of liquid
which happened to be lavender essential oil. His hand
healed with exceptional speed and no scarring!
